Pretty Package

I like to say that living in a small space with limited storage necessitates pretty packaging, since many things are out in the open. But honestly, I’ve just never been able to walk past a gorgeous label. If you put it in a pretty package, or give it a funny name, chances are I’ll buy it. Especially if it satisfies my permanent black and gold fixation!

Sweet Scents Come in Pretty Packages

The first scent I ever sampled as a little girl was my mom’s Opium. There were many bottles on her shelf  but the Opium bottle had that almost glowy little round window and a very glamorous black tassel, and I was smitten before I ever smelled it. Surely spraying oneself with the contents of something so exotic and beautiful would instantly turn you into the same!  (I am happy to report, by the way, that Opium smells exactly as lovely as you would assume from it’s bottle, though it didn’t turn me into anything more glam than a scented six year old.)

What can I say, even as a little girl I could be charmed by gorgeous packaging, and that will never change. Perfumers take note: if your bottle is tasseled, beribboned, glitzy or glamorous, I am likely to give it a go. And sometimes I’ll even do my best to pretend the scent suits just so I can look at the bottle on my dresser. (In this case one just pretends the bottle was meant as decor all along. No? Just me?) Hopefully I won’t have to pretend with any of these chicly packaged candidates! Have you ladies tried any of these scents?

Love & Toast

Love & Toast (adore that name, those happen to be two of my favorite things)  has some of the prettiest packaging I’ve seen to date! I can’t imagine not smiling if I were greeted by these bright little treats on my vanity every day.  I should not be surprised, after all Love & Toast was created by Margot Elena, the creator of the lovely Lollia and Tokyo Milk brands. And in this case, you absolutely can judge a book by its cute cover, Love & Toast products are free of parabens, phthalates, animal ingredients, artificial colors, not tested on animals, and part of the proceeds from every purchase is donated to Girls Inc. ! They are true to their motto: pretty is as pretty does.
Are you as swayed by a pretty package as I am?
