I like to say that living in a small space with limited storage necessitates pretty packaging, since many things are out in the open. But honestly, I’ve just never been able to walk past a gorgeous label. If you put it in a pretty package, or give it a funny name, chances are I’ll buy it. Especially if it satisfies my permanent black and gold fixation!

People usually think about comfy rugs during the cold season but my eyes start wandering to floor coverings in the spring. I don’t like to wear socks in warm weather, and really without central air conditioning being barefoot is a necessity. However, I’m not a huge fan of padding around the house on bare floors. I want my toes to feel something soft and comfy, and in certain parts of the house where the antique wide pine planks are being pulled apart by age and gravity I’m just trying to avoid splinters.
This gorgeous area rug by Ladies & Gentlemen is modeled after vintage doilies and made from soft cotton rope. I would love to have a few of these around the house during the spring and summer! Learn more about the Mega Doily here, and purchase here.

Gorgeous porcelain table lamps by artist Lilach Lotan. These definitely go on the dream list. Perhaps some day she will make little mini versions and bring the dream a little closer.

I had to share this little gem with all of you. How beautiful is the gutter, or I suppose more appropriately called the down spout, on this house? It is a bit hard to see but it is a series of little metal cups that carry the water down from the roof by overflowing into one another. There was one on each side so that if you were looking from the front it honestly looked like the house was wearing a pair of long earrings. It was gorgeous and much more stylish than the white metal tubes one usually sees. I noticed it on our walk through town a couple of weekends ago. I have never seen anything like this before, but of course now I really want a couple for our house!

This is the little cottage owned by Kate Winslet’s character, Iris, in “The Holiday”. Isn’t this just the loveliest little home? I have been smitten by this house since seeing the movie years ago. The cute entry, the cozy blue ottoman in the living room, the library wall, be still my heart! Our kitchen also features a fireplace and I would love to be able to enjoy it more often, perhaps with a little table for two . But riddle me this Iris, where is your fridge? I think if I knew what to do with ours we would be a lot closer to the kitchen in the photo than we currently are.
