I won’t bore you with my gushing Andy Murray glee, but I must say, may we all have the character and courage it takes to lose big, and come back swinging. Gold medal or not, if you can do that, you’ve already won.

When Andy Murray lost to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon finals my (expletive laden) rant included a wish for Andy to, shall we say, “forcefully place” a gold medal in Roger’s ”personal space”. If you know what I mean. Now I find myself in a classic be careful what you wish for situation.
My affection for Mr. Murray is overshadowed only by my fascination with his girlfriend’s hair (will some magazine please interview her about that situation? what product is she using? is there a blow dryer involved, hot rollers, what?) so I’m not entirely sure I’ll make it through another Murray – Federer final. Wimbledon just about did me in, and truth be told my subsequent despondency was pretty insufferable.
I’ll be crossing my fingers when I’m not using my hands to cover my eyes, cheering entirely too loudly, and making a large pitcher of Pimm’s. Sure it’ll only be 9 am here, but it’s 2 pm in London so technically it’s not that scandalous. Or maybe it is, but I’m telling you tea is just not going to cut it for this match.
I never mentioned it when this series began in January, but the biggest reason for starting the 7 things love fest was to help me truly appreciate every single month of the year. So far it is working really well, even as the weather has gotten hotter I’ve managed to focus on my 7 things and show each month the love it deserves instead of just getting by until my favorite time of year arrives again. Time flies so fast (case in point, it’s August already how did that happen?), wanting to skip over the bits that aren’t our favorite seems ungrateful and wasteful.
But August? Well August and I struggle to get along. It is so hot, and it seems to go on for so long, and the retailers and magazines keep teasing us with fall fashions, and for the love can’t it just be September already! I’m pretty shocked to have found 7 whole things to love about this month, but here they are, and I plan to hold onto them in a mental kung fu grip as I try not to just shut my eyes until it’s over. I hope August treats you well, crank the AC and pass me the poptails.
