As of the past couple years we have pretty much given up on sending out holiday cards. I know. I know. It’s totally Scrooge-y. But with our diverse mailing list, and my perfectionist streak, we were spending so much time stocking up on cards for every known winter holiday (not to mention looking up all the proper dates to make sure the card arrives at the right time), or surrendering to the blandness of a generic all purpose card, that I honestly started dreading the process. Besides, so few people send out cards anymore.
Recently I was chatting with my mom, who is also a card non-sender, when she mentioned that this year she was mailing holiday cards in an attempt to give the Postal Service a little boost. I think we can all agree that it would be such a shame if the Postal Service ceased to exist (can you imagine a life completely devoid of a handwritten letter?), so I’ve decided to do my little part and join her. And really, how could I resist? There are so many gorgeous designs to choose from this year!
A little tip: always have a box of Happy New Year cards at the ready. We all pull out our party hats for New Year’s Eve so they’re appropriate for all of our friends and family, and if you ever accidentally forget someone in your first mailing you can fire off a Happy New Year card without missing a beat or needlessly hurting a feeling!
