September always makes me nostalgic for the beginning of another school year, but this year especially, I just can’t shake the feeling. I want to walk to class on a chilly morning, coffee in hand, a fresh batch of school supplies in tow. And now that pre-exam jitters are no longer in the picture I can truly appreciate back to school time for the inspirational, fresh start season that it is. After all, if you learn something new every day you can stay a student for life! In that spirit I will be picking out a new non-fiction book to read, indulging in a more glamorous version of those school day standbys (wouldn’t you have loved looking up SAT words in that golden leather dictionary?), and channeling Kathleen Kelley from You’ve Got Mail with “bouquets of sharpened pencils” and “the smell of Scotch tape”.

As soon as the weather cools off I am ready to change my home fragrance, and this year I want to steer away from the usual pumpkin fare toward something a bit more sophisticated and maybe even a little bit unexpected! Between these lovely scents and the spiced cider on the stove it is going to be a deliciously fragrant and cozy season.

I’ve found that unless I truly love, love, LOVE my workspace I end up on the sofa with the Mac on my lap making more progress on developing a serious crick in my neck than my work. Right now is one of those times when I am not loving my space, or the (hopefully temporary) crick in my neck, but all that is about to change thanks to this much loved photo of Aerin Lauder in her office. I stumbled upon this little gem a few days ago and now we are full steam ahead on a new, clean yet glamorous, white and gold desk! It’s possible that I am enjoying the process of decorating the office even more than I will enjoy working in it (I mean who doesn’t love having a legitimate excuse to redecorate, am I right?), but I am pretty sure my days on the sofa are just about numbered.

This gorgeous Egg Cup Box by Jacey Withers is the most glamorous little jewelry and trinket box I’ve seen in a long time! Jewelry boxes tend to be quite frilly, but this little egg is downright sexy. Perfect for the nightstand to catch your rings before bed, don’t you think?

And the Large Square Box will keep your grandma’s pearls and all of that fabulous new fall jewelry safe in style!

Every few months I decide that I hate our sofa pillows and can’t sit here a minute longer without new ones. It’s about that time right now (come to think of it maybe it lines up with the change of seasons? hmm) and I’ve fallen quite madly in love with these pillows from Proud Mary. I’m not going to lie, it does have a great deal to do with those fantastic tassels and pompoms! I want to cover the whole sofa with alternating salmon Diamante and striped Cirque pillows. Aren’t they perfection? Classic patterns with a bit of whimsy thrown in is exactly the mood I want for my living room. Proud Mary is definitely reawakening my lifelong pillow dream, which is this:

Don’t you want to be this girl right now? It looks like heaven.
