Ah, whisky. So many gorgeous bottles, so many different varieties. Scotch, bourbon, rye, Tennessee, Irish, Canadian, there is truly something for everyone. (If you’ve tried a variety and think you don’t like whisky, try a different type, even just a different brand can make a huge difference.) Any of these stunners would look lovely on your bar cart, and make a gift no cocktail lover could resist! As if you couldn’t already guess, my favorite is that lovely little plaid bottle of Scotch Whisky, isn’t it just perfect?

You already know I am drawn to gorgeous packaging (aren’t we all?) so it is no surprise that gorgeous bottles of spirits tend to catch my attention. I will even admit I have brought bottles home just because they were gorgeous and, luckily, I have yet to be disappointed with the contents. A gorgeous bottle will glam up your bar cart and make a wonderful gift for other cocktail enthusiasts in your life! Who could resist a bottle with a smart bowler hat, or all of that gorgeous typography?

Today is my birthday, in honor of which we are taking the train up to Scotland for a couple of days! (more squealing, hand clapping, and jumping up and down than I even care to admit to happening over here) A while ago my husband asked me what I would like to do on my 30th birthday and I, half jokingly, said “I’d like to drink Scotch … in Scotland”. So that’s exactly what we will be doing tonight. Single girls take note: marry a man who takes your silliest dreams seriously, because honestly, it’s the silly dreams that end up making you the happiest.
These tartan outfits by Sonia Rykiel are exactly what I’d love to be wearing today, if for no other reason than one’s birthday being truly the only time one can get away with a super bright (hopefully faux) fur stole. But it seems to me that unless you are legitimately Scottish draping yourself in tartan from head to toe while in Scotland would just be a bit … much. So I’ll be keeping the outfit tartan free but heavy on the jewels, trying my first bites of haggis, and sipping what I can only imagine will be the very best tasting dram of Scotch I’ve ever had. I’ll also be trying my very hardest not to buy every single tartan item I stumble upon in the next 48 hours. But knowing my feelings on the pattern I really can’t make any promises.
As much as I am excitedly counting down to fall (which in my world starts promptly on September 1st even if the weather doesn’t yet cooperate), I am making sure to soak in these last bits of summer. The next few days will be filled with all of my favorite summer treats, from bocce to sangria to the last Clambake manicure! I hope you are all making the most of these fun summer days as they slowly trail away.
