Sweet Scents Come in Pretty Packages

The first scent I ever sampled as a little girl was my mom’s Opium. There were many bottles on her shelf  but the Opium bottle had that almost glowy little round window and a very glamorous black tassel, and I was smitten before I ever smelled it. Surely spraying oneself with the contents of something so exotic and beautiful would instantly turn you into the same!  (I am happy to report, by the way, that Opium smells exactly as lovely as you would assume from it’s bottle, though it didn’t turn me into anything more glam than a scented six year old.)

What can I say, even as a little girl I could be charmed by gorgeous packaging, and that will never change. Perfumers take note: if your bottle is tasseled, beribboned, glitzy or glamorous, I am likely to give it a go. And sometimes I’ll even do my best to pretend the scent suits just so I can look at the bottle on my dresser. (In this case one just pretends the bottle was meant as decor all along. No? Just me?) Hopefully I won’t have to pretend with any of these chicly packaged candidates! Have you ladies tried any of these scents?

Definitely one of the best things about having many bottles of perfume is displaying them! I have Lola and the Versace bottles and they’re beautiful just sitting on our bathroom counter :) Plus, you know, they smell good too, haha.

Growing up, I remember playing with my mom’s pretty perfume bottles on her vanity. She wore Shalimar and it’s sweet scent will always remind me of that time!

My very favorite scent is by Vera Wang (Bouquet). Is it weird that I am already secretly excited to have it photographed during my wedding “getting ready” shots? I’m a dork.
