Color/Cocktail ~ Manhattan

Sometimes a simple classic is best, in this case a Manhattan and a lovely shade of red. To prepare a Manhattan pour 2 oz. blended whiskey, 1 oz. Italian sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into an ice filled mixing glass. Stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry. Enjoy!

Summer Breeze

Isn’t this just the breeziest summer outfit you’ve ever seen? She looks so chic and comfortable, I love it! And her anklet makes me nostalgic for childhood summers, my mom and I used to have at least a couple spinning around our ankles at the beach, and at least one would inevitably get lost in the ocean. That gorgeous blouse is this piece from Zara, which I need to add to my closet immediately and then wear every day for the rest of the summer. Along with all of the accessories below, of course. Let’s hope we can all survive the city heat looking this cool and lovely.

Paul & Joe

Love these looks from Paul & Joe Spring/Summer 2011. Absolutely gorgeous and timeless. I wouldn’t mind if my entire closet was filled with pieces like this, especially those amazing bow pumps. And until my closet magically fills with Paul & Joe I’m at least going to  channel this adorable model and add a cute bun and red lipstick to my daily uniform.

Fashion + Dictionary + Diary

While I will admit that it doesn’t take too much to get me excited at the prospect of a new notebook, my giddiness over these Fashionary (fashion + dictionary + diary)  sketchbooks is off the charts! They transport me instantly to days spent dreaming and sketching outfits with my friends as a little girl, planning all the fabulous things we would wear “in the future”.  It has been ages since I’ve done this, mostly because as an adult we become so self conscious about skill, everything has to look great or it isn’t worth doing (does that sound familiar?). Well, Fashionary to the rescue!

If you’ve ever wanted to do a bit of fashion sketching but were too worried that your drawings wouldn’t look pretty enough Fashionary provides 400 light templates to guide your hand and give you a basic form to build on. The templates are barely there so every page can also be used as a blank canvas, to sketch freely or write, whatever your heart desires. And if you’ve ever wondered what in the world all those fabric care symbols mean (as I have) you will love the 34 page fashion dictionary, including everything from laundry labels to patterns to body measurements, and more. I think a Fashionary, some markers, and those glamorous childhood dreams all need to be added to my beach bag this summer, don’t you agree?

Madame and Casanova

I am a little in love with the Madame De Pompadour and Casanova bust candles by D.L. & Co., I can’t stop imagining them on our bedside tables. Madame on my side, Casanova on his, wouldn’t they look amazing?  At 8.5″ tall they are large enough to really make an impact, very glamorous and romantic with a little air of mystery thrown in for good measure. And lucky for us they are on sale at Barneys! I don’t think I would have the heart to actually use them, but I would have to grit my teeth and burn them for a few minutes just to make them look used (I sort of hate brand new candles on display, anyone else feel the same? ), maybe just one minute.
