I couldn’t have said it better myself! Olivia Wilde is one of my favorite actresses and this quote in the June 2011 issue of Glamour makes me love her even more. And how beautiful does she look here with her dog Paco? There is nothing sweeter than a puppy smooch.

Color ~ Essie’s Sand Tropez / Cocktail ~ Fresh Squeezed Bloody Mary
Well friends, another Friday is here, and as usual not a moment too soon! I am very excited for this weekend because I heard a little rumor from the weather man that it just might stop raining. One of the best parts of a weekend is enjoying a delicious, relaxing brunch, and of course a spicy Bloody Mary! Lately we’ve been making our Bloody Marys with fresh squeezed tomato juice (using a juice extractor), and I really can’t recommend it enough. Fresh juice is much healthier since, unlike prepared juice, it doesn’t have a high sodium content, and it is infinitely more delicious. You just can’t beat the taste of a fresh, ripe tomato. Let me know what you think if you give it a try.
Fresh Squeezed Bloody Mary
2 oz. Vodka
4 ounces tomato juice (4-6 tomatoes depending on size)
1/2 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
3 dashes Tabasco sauce
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
lemon or lime wedge for garnish
Add all ingredients (except the garnish) into a mixing glass with ice and roll to mix, do not shake. Rolling prevents the tomato juice from becoming foamy. Serve over ice in a highball glass, garnish with the lemon or lime wedge.
Interesting tidbit: M. Ferdinand “Pete” Petiot, who is said to have invented the Bloody Mary, used to make the drink with gin for a time in the 1930′s because he wasn’t able to find vodka. Made with gin he called the drink a Red Snapper. I think we might need to give the Snapper a go, don’t you?

I have a total aversion to pale pink polish. It wasn’t always this way, but the past few years every time I encounter the shade I see my old boss stabby pointing her permanently pale pink finger at never ending stacks of experiment data and my left eyelid starts to twitch. But sometimes you need something neat, polished, and most importantly, subtle on your finger tips.
For me that used to be a coat of clear polish, but this spring nude varnish is popping up all around so I took the plunge. Enter Essie’s Sand Tropez and a new nude polish obsession is born. Sand Tropez is like a tiny little trench coat for your finger tips, flattering, ladylike, always appropriate. And it just happens to actually be the exact shade of my trench coat (as I accidentally noticed last night at the grocery store). Here are a few of my favorite nude shades, and whatever shade you choose make sure to use a super glossy top coat.

One important tip about Sand Tropez: it will go on super streaky at first, but don’t panic! Just paint slowly, and do not go over the same area again and again. Give the polish a few minutes and it will settle and even itself out as it dries.

While I do wish the jeans were all white (I’m just NOT loving that top section), I love this simple spring outfit on Kelly Connor. Perfect touch of salmon/coral and cute accessories make this an outfit we can all whip up quickly in the morning, and look stylish and comfortable all day. I must admit though, the detail that made my eyes screech to a halt and drew me totally in is that fabulous bright blue Hermes Birkin bag! Could you even imagine? Kelly inherited it from her mom, the lucky girl. It doesn’t really matter what else you wear if you have a little blue Birkin by your side, am I right?

I’m in the market for a new wedding band and as a result have developed a pretty major obsession with very skinny rings. This past winter my diamond band caused an eczema flare-up (I wash my hands a million times a day and I think the little droplets of soapy water trapped under the stones irritated my super sensitive skin into a frenzy), so I haven’t worn a band in months. For a girl as in love with jewelry as I am, this is just not acceptable.
I think something whisper thin and barely there would be perfect to keep my skin happy on a daily basis and could easily be stacked with other bands when the mood strikes. Of course, I’ve found so many that I love, it is near impossible to choose. What do you think ladies, any favorites? The good news is each of these rings and rings sets is under $100! So maybe choosing just one isn’t terribly important after all.
