Color/Cocktail ~ White Lady

Color ~ Essie Cute as a Button / Cocktail ~ White Lady

Happy Friday everyone! The long weekend is upon us and I couldn’t be happier. Warmer weather is also upon us here in New England so it is the perfect time for a lovely citrusy cocktail like the White Lady.

White Lady

1  1/2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Cointreau
3/4 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice

Combine Gin, Cointreau, and lemon juice in an ice filled shaker. Shake well. Pour into chilled cocktail glass.

Enjoy!

Interesting tidbit: The White Lady, named after a popular rose, was invented twice by two Harrys’. Harry Craddock’s recipe is featured above and is the surviving cocktail, Harry MacElhone’s version called for brandy, creme de menthe and Cointreau. Sounds like a pretty interesting mix, no?

Color tip: Essie’s Cute as a Button usually looks quit a bit more orange than it does in the afternoon light above. On me it varies from very orange to almost completely pink as the lighting changes during the day.

Moc Summer

Note to self: embrace moccasins this summer. Don’t they look adorable with shorts and skirts? Preppy casual comfort, love it. Especially these cute A.P.C. numbers.

A Little Bit Preppy, A Little Bit Rock ‘n Roll

This outfit worn by the amazing Zanna Roberts Rassi, who is senior fashion editor at Marie Claire, was love at first sight. If my brain could wear an outfit this would be it! Half preppy/tomboyish, and half tough girl/rocker chic, all together absolutely gorgeous. I just love how she has paired preppy staples with what appears to be a leather mini and, what definitely is, my dream shoe, the Christian Louboutin Pigalle Spiked Ballerina. Be still my heart. If I had those chic spikes on my feet I guarantee no one would be stomping on my toes in the subway.

Layover

I have a bit of a crush on the Layover necklace from Cuffs. Aren’t these little paper airplanes adorable? Reminds me of being bored in class and flying notes around when the teacher wasn’t looking. Not that we ever did that of course.

Small Dose ~ Dots on Coral

I’m pretty sure I would never complain about the rain again if I had this adorable umbrella tote!  Is that not the cutest rain accessory you’ve ever seen? For now I’ll have to settle for a pretty scarf to hold back my frizzy mane, hope for sunny days ahead, and rely on the polka dots to lift the spirits in the meantime.
