I know I won’t be in the mood to get properly dressed so early in the morning, but as my mom said to me today: “I’ll at least put on my pearls. I can’t watch the Queen without my pearls!”.

I am very excitedly making a list of treats for tea on Friday morning, and I can hardly wait to bite into a delicious crumpet and take in all the pomp! The great thing about tea is that you can have it any time of day, whether you are a die hard need to see it live girl like myself, or a more sensible afternoon DVR viewer. I know that the only way I am getting up before 4am is if there is marmalade involved. Well, that’s a lie, I think we all know I am getting up before 4am because there are tiaras involved!
Tips: 1. Most of these items can be found in the international isle of your local grocery store, so do take a peek. I am including a recipe for crumpets, but I have also spotted them packaged in the bakery section of the store.
2. If you are treating yourself to crumpets with clotted cream and jam (or marmalade) spread the jam on the crumpet first, then a dollop of cream on top. In the reverse order the jam tends to slide right off the cream.
1. Harney & Sons Royal Wedding Tea, 2. Herend Fish Scale Teapot , Cup and Saucer, 3. Pansy Petit Fours, 4. McVitie’s Rich Tea Biscuits, 5. Smoke Dahlia Napkin, 6. Somerdale Double Devon Cream, 7. Crumpets (recipe), 8.Tea Sandwiches (recipes), 9. Fortnum & Mason Orange and Champagne Marmalade

I am really hoping that the excitement over the royal wedding helps the fascinator cross the pond and become as much a staple of fancy dress in the States as it is in the UK! Wouldn’t you love to wear one of these beauties to your next party or wedding? I can hardly wait to see all of the fabulous hats and hair accessories on Friday. I will close my eyes and dream of wearing that sweet sheer hat as I introduce myself to the Queen. Do you suppose you are to curtsy if you are not technically British?

Kate Middleton is one lucky princess-to-be to have the pleasure of wearing such a gorgeous sapphire engagement ring, not to mention the honor of wearing the same ring as Princess Diana. We can’t all be so lucky, but we can have a little bit of sapphire fun with a lovely midnight blue polish! Perhaps a quick sapphire mani is in order for Friday morning’s festivities, what do you think?

I had planned on sharing some of my favorite wedding photos with you last week, so these are a bit late. Which is fitting since our anniversary itself had to be postponed. Sadly, husband’s grandfather passed away and on our anniversary we were standing in a cold rain while his sweet grandma buried her best friend and husband of 58 years.
We spent a lot of time looking at old photographs, starting with their gorgeous 1950′s wedding, watching this amazing couple grow and age through the decades, hand in hand in every image. And I found myself feeling intensely thankful that we are still on our first few photos. The first few images of a long life together.
These two wedding photos are literally the first few of our married life, taken less than 15 minutes after the ceremony. They are beautiful (if I say so myself) and they remind me that it is okay to let go and drag your dress in the dirt sometimes. When the photographer asked us to stand on this little path for the photo I said no. The OCD germaphobe in me was not about to frolic in dusty gravel. And now they are my favorite. Of all the thousands of images taken that day. You never know which moments will end up being your favorite in the end, sometimes you have to have a little faith and step into the dirt.
