It seems Mother Nature is playing a little trick on us, first declaring the start of spring and then serving up some freezing weather. That’s alright, cold weather is the perfect excuse to stay indoors, dust off my art supplies and finally finish up some projects. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty, painting and sketching is one of the few things that can totally ruin my manicure and have me loving every minute of it! Now if only I could find some cute artist smocks to protect my clothing, something like these adorable dresses perhaps?

Tell me, what do you have planned for this chilly weekend? Or are you one of the lucky ones enjoying warm sunshine already?

Now that it is officially spring (yay!) I don’t have to stop myself from gushing about and lusting after all things nautical and summery! The Spring 2011 collection from Blanco is hitting all of my polka dot, stripe, and nautical loving soft spots. The whole collection gives off such a “ oh, I just threw this together and yet look incredibly chic ” vibe, which is exactly the kind of casual glamour I want when the weather warms up. I would be more than happy to spend the entire season in these gorgeous outfits, I’m not sure I could even pick a favorite, can you?

Tomorrow I will be joining many others in the Bloggers Day of Silence in memory of the victims of the Japanese disaster. The situation seems to get worse every day, as do the feelings of sadness and helplessness. I know we have all been heartbroken by the devastating losses, inspired by incredible bravery, and terrified of what may still be ahead. I can only hope that this small gesture, this gathering of thoughts and prayers, will create a wave of love traveling toward the Japanese people.
Please visit the For Japan With Love website to find out more about the fundraising initiative put together by Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged, and give if you can. If you are not able to give financially, please take a few minutes to be silent and send some grace toward Japan in whatever way you believe in. Never underestimate the power of the human spirit, the power of standing together in friendship, the power of love no matter how great the distance between us.
