Cabin Fever

Another big snowstorm is headed our way and my mood has officially entered cabin fever parameters. So as the weather man uses phrases like “almost endless snow” I am going to make every attempt to stay warm and upbeat with the help of cheerful red accents and a cocktail or twelve. Perhaps we will start saving for our summer vacation by putting a dollar into the Anger jar for every time one of us falls on the icy sidewalk, silver lining and all that.

Honk If You Love Stripes

These gorgeous photos of Claudia Schiffer (taken by Ellen von Unwerth for Vogue Italia, April 2008) are the perfect start for a Monday morning, don’t you agree? I don’t think anyone does a strong eye quite as well as Claudia, not to mention pulling off a big ribbon in her hair without looking the slightest bit juvenile. Love it!

Oh Cherie

It is a tiny tragedy that even though I have adored the Miss Dior Cherie ad campaigns the actual fragrance doesn’t suit me. I love it in the bottle but it just doesn’t seem to work when worn.  Still, I can’t help but be smitten by the fantastic new Natalie Portman campaign, she is beautiful, of course, but also simultaneously sweet and sexy. I am hoping to capture some of that Miss Dior Cherie spirit by adding a few frilly bows to my accessories collection.  What do you think, what is it about a black bow that makes it so enchanting?

Just Like Gwyneth

Years ago I saw a red carpet photo of Gwyneth Paltrow wearing the most fantastic, devastatingly flattering, incredibly sexy pair of black stiletto heels and was so smitten I tore the page out immediately (even though my mom had not yet flipped through the magazine and tearing sheets out before everyone had a chance to read the issue was very much against our glossy code of conduct). I had that page for ages, believing that someday I would add those incredibly expensive designer shoes to my collection, and secretly believing a bit that once I did my legs would be so grateful they would immediately take on the appearance of Gwyneth’s mile long pins. Well, the wait is over and for an infinitely more acceptable two digit price tag from my beloved Zara! The Asymmetric Court Shoes are a dead ringer for the mythical Gwyneth shoes. The only questions are: how fast can I trudge through the snow to get them and do they really have magical leg transforming powers?

Poesy in Motion

I absolutely fell in love with the amazing photos of Clemence Poesy in the February issue of Marie Claire, and had to share my two favorites. As far as I’m concerned she really stole the spotlight of the whole issue, I only wish an interview accompanied the lovely images. The new darker hair looks really beautiful on her, don’t you agree?
