Fiery Chignon

I’ve noticed that when I have nowhere special to be, and nothing special to do, my hair tends to look fantastic, but as soon as there is a cocktail party on the agenda it refuses to behave. Cowlicks, odd bumps, and static galore.  This holiday season I’ve decided to practice a go-to chignon that I can throw together quickly when my hair decides to rebel. The chignon above is so lovely I think I would like to wear it even on a good hair day.
Tell me, do you have a quick bun or updo in your arsenal? Any tips on how to throw my hair up without looking too fussy (or using 1000 bobby pins)? Tricks for keeping it from falling apart all night?

P.S. How gorgeous is that redhead? Between the hair, the lips, and the sweet dress, I think my fairy god mother needs to wave her wand and turn me into her!

So funny-I have held onto this article for some time now, I love wearing my hair like this! (plus I’m a redhead) I find that if you “dirty” up your hair with product it holds better.

I have a pixie cut, but even those misbehave on occasion, so I always keep a few dressy head bands and clips on hand to disguise my bad hair days for a nice event. Ban.Do, J Crew, and Forever21 are always good places to find some, but I prefer to make my own. Have you tried using a head band to hide misbehaving hair?

Yes, I would also like to look like her for an afternoon or two. What a living doll!

Loved the process in the photos. Mesmerizing, this entire post.

She is so beautiful! I love the step by step guide especially because I am in desperate need of a simple, everyday “up do.” Wearing it down just gets in the way working with sticky fingers ;)

That is a great hairstyle and the girl is indeed a stunner!

And normally I just end up with my hair loose for parties and in a ponytail for work or if it refuse to cooperate. Boooring – I know! Can’t wait until it gets longer so I can experiment a bit with chignons and braids :)

I have a go-to bun that saves me so many times at holidays and at lazy days. I wish I could pull it together to do this chic chignon you displayed here. Her hair color is gorgeous!

Not that I have cut my locks short, a ponytail is a dream! But this updo is gorgeous so I may have to grow my hair long again…

Love this ‘do! When I’m in big hair trouble, I tease the roots and throw together a messy beehive!

I adore this look. I should practice because right now all I do with my hair is blow dry and brush it. It’s straight nearly all the time. For nicer occasions, I’ll curl it up, but I don’t have time for that daily and would love a simple, chic look like this, just for heading out of the house even.

I also think it’s time I tried red lipstick again.

Oh I’m so envious of her hair and complexion. That’s a great look. I get so impatient with my baby fine hair that I just keep cutting it shorter and shorter.

Oh yes, the side chignon is the best – it’s my staple up-do.
And November Skies blue, perfect! Blue houses are the best houses, I’ve always had a soft spot for them!

She is gorgeous, the hair is gorgeous and seems like the perfect go to do. Funny how our hair cooperates (psh). I always have great hair days when the only person I see is my husband (he’s worth it) and maybe the clerk at the store or dry cleaners.

This is lovely. I wish i could wear my hair like this by my hair is to thick and it just looks like one huge bird nest. LOL. Maybe I’m doing it wrong?
