In October, when it isn’t quite cold enough for a fire but I crave that warm glow, we usually use candles in our fireplace. I never would have thought to fill it with pumpkins, but these two photos make me want to give it a try. Aren’t they cute? I am thinking of using the top design, but the bottom image would be perfect for those who have non-working fireplaces.

Love these! Such a cute idea!
How adorable! I love the little flames carved into the first pumpkins! We just bought a whole pile; I’m afraid John’s gone a little wild for fall decorations!
Wishing I had a fireplace so I could do this. The first one is so cool and I really like the painted ones! We’re going to attempt a black cat pumpkin this year, little nervous about it but hopefully he’ll be cute
The first photo is brilliant. I adore that people get so creative with their pumpkins.
That first image is so cool! I love when jack-o-lanterns get creative AND practical. I want you to do it! I will live vicariously through you because I long for a fireplace
If only I had a fireplace (sigh!) Perhaps a mass of pumpkins in the dog crates might have the same effect… Must get the kids carving soon!
Oh I love this!!!
oooh….more decorating ideas. i love, love that first photo! So clever.
That first image is so rad. Wish we didn’t actually use our fireplace!
Mariel – I know what you mean, we usually don’t really start having fires until November, but it is getting cold so fast now we might need to nix the pumpkins for some warmth!
