Now that it is officially too hot my outfits have become a steady rotation of tank tops and tee shirts and I am bored to tears. I’ve been thinking about this adorable dress since I saw it in one of Creature Comforts collections, but I’m thinking it might be too late to get it now. Sigh. Isn’t it gorgeous? Let’s all dream of a summer spent wearing nothing but chic little dresses like this!

Between that fantastic skirt which absolutely tugs at my stripe loving heart and the adorable pink heels, I think we can all agree that Helen Mirren is one very stylish woman. Not only that but she is extraordinarily beautiful. Not beautiful for her age (I hate that phrase so much, it really is an un-compliment), just beautiful. In a society where women seem to disappear from view as they get older I find it so inspiring that Helen Mirren is still around, still strutting her stuff, and proving that one needn’t be 20 to be gorgeous, stylish, and sexy. Well done Helen, we should all be so lucky, and I’m pretty sure I want to be you when I grow up.

Happy Friday! I will be spending my afternoon at the RMV (or DMV depending on your state of residence), I hope everyone else has much better plans. Hopefully the day will be redeemed with a yummy dinner and cashing in my girly movie chip with the husband. Any fun weekend plans dear friends? We will mostly be trying to stay cool, and I may even get super brave and get started on a project that scares me for no reason at all. In light of the heat and assorted annoyances I think we need a very refreshing and very easy cocktail this week. Let me introduce you to the Pink Salty Dog!
Pink Salty Dog
1 1/2 oz. Gin
5 oz. Pink Grapefruit Juice
1/4 tsp. Salt
Rim the edge of a glass with coarse salt, add ice, pour in Gin and Pink Grapefruit Juice, stir. If you prefer not to rim the glass add 1/4 tsp. Salt directly into the mix. For a frozen alternative combine Gin and Juice in a blender, slowly add ice until slushy and incorporated.

Makes me wear blue clothing that is (although lately it is also making my mood a bit blue, I admit). This interesting study published in the journal Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research states that dark blue cloth offers the most protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays. Red cloth came in second and yellow was the least protective (only blue, red, and yellow were tested in this study). The next time you are spending the day in the rays consider throwing on your favorite blue tops or dresses, and stock up on blue items for your next sunny vacation. And as always, sunscreen on all uncovered skin and don’t forget your wide-brimmed hat!

You know I love a good stud earring, and these unique studs by Eddie Borgo are certainly no exception. Stud earrings usually tend toward the sweet and dainty, which I love, but every once in a while a girl needs something just a little bit tougher. Eddie delivers with these fantastic industrial looking posts, and their sparkling spiky sisters, do you love?
